  • Job Description

    DDL OMNI’s Engineering Services Division is seeking a Electronics/Software Engineer II to design, develop, customize, integrate and maintain the infrastructure for software development laboratories located at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport (NUWC Newport). Infrastructure refers to systems that support the software development group including, Hardware (servers, workstations, routers, switches, video streaming and storage devices), and Operating System software (Linux, Windows) as well as Virtual environments (Virtualbox, KVM, QEMU) and some common applications. The software development group develops specialized applications for use in a small number of isolated environments. The Electronics/Software Engineer II will integrate these applications with the hardware and OS on which they will be deployed.

     

    Essential functions include:

    • Design and re-design hardware and host OS, and integrate specialized applications
    • Design and code scripts (shell, powershell, Perl, python) to manage OS functions
    • Lead and support testing efforts to ensure quality standards are met
    • Provide technical input and documentation to the project configuration control boards
    • Provide Technical support for application development and production hardware

     

    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates must have the ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance which requires US Citizenship.

     

    Education Required:

    BS in Computer Science or related field. Ten years of experience in developing and implementing complex hardware and software solutions. Experience developing custom user interface, desktop environment, or toolbar as frontend to custom scripts.

     

    Experience and Skills Required:

    Ten years of experience in developing and implementing complex hardware and software solutions. Experience developing custom user interface, desktop environment, or toolbar as frontend to custom scripts. Five or more years of experience installing and configuring Windows and Linux operating systems. Five or more years of experience installing and configuring network routers and switches. Experience with isolated (no internet connection) systems. Cybersecurity certification (Security Plus, CISSP) or ability to attain within six months. Computing Environment certification (Linux Plus, MCSA) or ability to attain within six months. Oracle DMBS experience helpful
